10: Jerome Waag

Jerome Waag
2005
Hi Chris,
I'm a friend of Jerome's,
number 2 in the chain of transmission of
shirtthatgetsaround #10, still listed as undistributed on the website
jerome says your planning a show, so thought I'd update you and I'd
like to send a little documentation
so, #10 first given
to Jerome Waag in SF you know this story
next brought along on a visit to the home of Alan Prohm in Helsinki,
where after a brief excursion to St Petersburg it was given to said
Prohm (early july 2005)
Alan wore it all
summer in Helsinki, Berlin, Halle, Weimar, Munich,
Riga (Latvia), Vilnius, the exact center of Europe (Lithuania), Parnu
(Estonia), Helsinki, San Francisco, North Fork (the exact center of
California), the top of the Sierras in the John Muir Wilderness,
Oakland, Helsinki, Turku, Rauma (Finland) and then Paris, where it was
photographed amid the frenetic feet of japanese tourists treading
superstitiously on the bronze star marking kilometre zero, the exact
center of France
In Paris it was given
to Jake Kennedy, Canadian poet and scholar,
following their participation in the first ever conference on the work
of Arakawa and Madeline Gins, at 3am outside the church of St
Eustaches, Les Halles, in the midst of an all-night city-wide street
party and art carnival
Jake has since taken
it back to Petersborough, Ontario where it lives
on, having so far refused to die
so, now you know sorry
I never got to show up on your pretty little
wandermap I'm slow that way
I have a little documentation
of a walk I took wearing the shirt If I
can resize the images in it fast enough to send before your show, you
will have it
I have heard a lot
about you from Jerome, and hope some day to meet
yours,
Alan |
